Possibly I'm the last person on the internet to see this interview with series writer and co-executive producer Ted Sullivan, but I thought I'd link it here in case I'm not.

There are some interesting tidbits and clarifications here regarding things that were seen in 1x06 "Lethe," as well as a couple of small spoilers at the end for 1x07 "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad."

You're definitely not the last person to see that! And, oh gosh, I do feel like the writers know what they're doing here in terms of plot and building character.

(Also, he is absolutely right about the holographic shooting gallery thing, it is so close to stuff we have now.)

I have no experience with VR at all, but I do play laser tag sometimes! And this seemed pretty similar, except they were shooting illusions instead of other people.

(I bet Ash and Lorca are great at laser tag.)

But that was back in the late 90s, and my strongest memory is that the more advanced of the two helmets apparently had a significant static charge--it used to zap me every time I handed it to a visitor.

These days my local public library has a bunch of those small, light headsets. I've never used one, because I suspect my glasses would interfere, plus it's not really my jam. But I feel like we're just a decade or so away from advancing to actual holographic shooting galleries, unless the world ends first.

In a modern AU Ash and Lorca would definitely play a lot of laser tag.

Laser tag demographics:

- children
- people like me who are there to pretend they're action heroes for a bit and absolutely deny there's a competitive element but the important thing is that I'm usually in the top 5
- really intense men in army surplus who take it all way too seriously

Guess which ones Ash and Lorca are.
