Nov. 10th, 2017 03:03 pm1. An interview with Jayne Brooke where they talk about Cornwell's death like it's a real thing that happened.
2. 8 new pictures from "Into the Forest I Go".
3. Season 1 will resume airing on 7 January 2018. Which gives us just eight weeks for rewatches, old series viewing, fic exchanges and any other hiatus shenanigans we want.

Date: 2017-11-10 04:27 am (UTC)1. That article makes me too sad. :C
2. Aww, love those pictures! But I'm in trepidation for the next episode. D:
3. Oh, I'd love a Disco Secret Santa (or a all-Trek Secret Santa). :D

AGREED. I'm curious that we get two pics of Kol.

Date: 2017-11-10 05:24 pm (UTC)2. Oh yay, Klingons. I greatly enjoy looking at their costumes and settings, tho. Are we going to get a GAY SPACE SCIENTISTS KISS?? Why does Tilly look so solemn?
3. AUGH -- but a fic exchange sounds fun! Did it get into Yuletide? I don't remember.

AUGH I am not ready for a hiatus but fandom activity is a good idea! At least some kink meme fills or something?
ETA: There's another post on the TrekMovie site talking about episode 10 speculations, in which the commenters are all convinced that "stranded with new foes" or whatever means the Mirrorverse. What do we think about that?

Date: 2017-11-10 09:30 pm (UTC)The Klingon look has been growing on me too. L'Rell's white costume with the blood-on-the-horns pointy bits! So OTT in such a ridiculously plausible way for a people trying to out-aggress one another. And weirdly pretty? Maybe they'll adjust the makeup as the show goes on so we get more facial expressions?
I guess a hiatus will give me time to catch up on everything else I've been putting off...

Date: 2017-11-10 09:34 pm (UTC)Huh. I think we are gonna see a Mirrorverse episode this season, but I doubt it would replace the Klingon war arc all together. I bet it's a one-episode thing and then we return to our own dimension.

Date: 2017-11-11 12:59 am (UTC)(I've been reluctant to trot this theory out, because it truly does put me in tinhat land, but I wouldn't be massively shocked if the startrek.com interview with Jayne Brook was an attempt to walk back her "I thought I was gonna die. Ummmm, sooner" moment on After Trek. So I'm easily convinced when it comes to "actors are absolutely lying to cover up plot twists" theories.)

Date: 2017-11-11 02:13 am (UTC)The rest of my feed at the time was just a neverending stream of people (mostly men) saying Disco was shite, and other people (mostly women) saying "maybe your subjective opinion is not fact?" So this was a welcome change.

I'm so happy my husband likes the show and we enjoy it, altho he's a physics geek so the shroom drive whatever kind of makes him wince. (I am heartless and find it amusing.) He did really like the tardigrave. "That's a waterbear!" he said in delight while I was still going WTF.

Date: 2017-11-11 05:03 am (UTC)I guess the comics on my pull list are open canon too, but they come out so slowly. Also, most of the ones I like were CANCELLED. (I am also praying my patented show-killing abilities don't hurt this one. Altho they already have an S2, so yay there.)

Date: 2017-11-11 05:09 am (UTC)So, who is the mysterious Lieutenant Tyler? “He’s very dark,” Latif says. “He’s got a lot of inner turmoil, he’s a very complex character. It’s not just that classic lighthearted action hero character. It gets dark and emotional.” Central to Tyler’s character arc will be Discovery’s leading lady, Burnham, who does fit the mold of an action hero. Latif says the subversive gender roles are another of the show's strengths: “[Tyler]’s a very vulnerable man. We’ve got Sonequa who is playing a powerful woman. We’ve flipped it. It’s trying to change that idea of what strong is. You can be vulnerable and strong—you don’t just have to be able to punch someone and be macho. That’s what we like about [Marlon] Brando in On the Waterfront.”
Aww yeah, that is my catnip. (As long as Michael doesn't have to Emotionally Heal Him or something, but she does not seem like the type, thankfully.)

Date: 2017-11-11 05:19 am (UTC)-- I just hope the writers don't go for one of those awful "the Strong Woman learns to love by tending to her man's Feelings" bits. I mean, if anyone is equipped to handle Feelings, it's Tilly! Come to think of it, I could totally deal with some h/c of my OT3 with Tilly being the Strong One for them as Michael and Ash go "Feelings, UGH."
....I'm just way overinvested in this show. Already, LOL. I completely blame Sonequa. She's an amazing actress. Of course Michelle Yeoh as CAPTAIN in the damn pilot ep didn't hurt either. And we got Admiral Kat! What a show. But if it weren't for Sonequa I'd probably just be hanging out while my husband watched it in the background, going "A new Trek show, oh, that's nice, dear." Altho that was how he got me into The Expanse, heh.
