I've been really getting into the spirit of the season and the new disco episodes to look forward to while filling stockings over at fandom_stocking.

I am a bit behind on Disco news as I can't watch most of the trailers, but I'm graeful for articles like these (trekmovie.com) which have screencaps and speculations. Has anyone seen the Trek shorts? These have somehow completemy passed me by but I see there is one about Saru?? How great is that? Also the third trailer apparently has footage of Saru and his (?)sister? YAY!

I am watching some of the featurettes on the season 1 release which I got for Christmas, though due to the copyright-thingie I am unable to play the bluerays on my PC (screencaps nope). Argh. I was looking forward to capping a lot of stuff! Does anyone know a work-around for that?

Oooh <3 in my country there's nothing like that, and the region locked stuff online isn't helping a thing. :( Hopefully one day I'll be able to watch some of the stuff you mention on your post.

My low-tech workaround about captions is: to use my phone camera for captures. Less headaches than downloading 10+ softwares and hoping one of them will work/my PC won't get infected/me having to learn how to use a new program again.

Ugh region-locked stuff is a pain. So far, I haven’t been able to watch the promo videos.

The idea wth the phone camera is good, maybe I’ll do that for the featurettes and do a post here. A lot of them deal with stuff that isn’t very interesting to me (special effects e.g.) but there is one about the story arc of season 1 that sounds promising.

I checked the www via duckduckgo, and it gives me some articles, e.g.:

That said, if your PC can't play Blueray to begin with, these articles probably don't apply. I would probably jump to a Real Life solution, i.e. go to one of your friends who is a gamer or knows a gamer (should not be hard among us nerds and geeks ;) and whose PC has Blueray functionality. Ask them to use the computer for just a while (if they want, they can even give you your own temp account, should they be worried about privacy, which I might be).

I live with a gamer but his PC doesn’t even have a drive where I could put in a blueray. I’ll try on my old laptop which has a blueray drive maybe that helps (and I dimly remember it playing blurays before)
And yeah, my PC can’t play bluerays at all unfortunately.

I am waaaaaay behind (as in, haven't seen a single one of the mini-episodes, and won't be getting caught up until after the first of the year), but there is indeed one about Saru and his family, and his sister does seem to be showing up again in the trailer! So that's very exciting.

I ahem'd the first season and then bought the Blu-Ray (AGES AFTER IT AIRED, WTF PARAMOUNT) and can't find the shorts anywhere. Boo. Maybe they'll be released as a Blu-Ray? IDK.

Thank you! I haven’t seen the shorts anywhere, maybe they were on that CbS service only? I watched Disco on Netflix which had the After-Trek episodes but not the shorts.

ALos, yes, the site I linked above (I think) had that info about Saru’s sister beingin the new season.
