I tagged the last interview I posted with "interviews" and "news" because I wasn't sure which was best to use. But I bet there will be some that aren't technically either? (Do we have a "meta" tag and does that apply to non-fandom blogs, I wonder?)

SO HERE'S THE THING ABOUT KAT -- originally Canadian actress Wendy Crewson was cast as "a female admiral". We don't know why she was replaced, but I'm guessing, just from looking at her IMDB page, that all the delays meant she was no longer available. She seems pretty busy.

Enter Jayne Brook, who has worked with the producers a bunch of times before, and who apparently didn't have to audition. (I heard. On Tumblr. Here's your grain of salt.) She thought she was going to be killed off at the end of "Lethe", and then again in "Si Vis Vic...", but the producers like working with her and wanted to keep her around.

Anyway, Kat sort of became a major supporting character by accident, which I think is quite nifty.

THAT IS AWESOME I love it when actors show up and make characters just pop off the screen and the creators go "Yeah okay, we're not throwing this away." (see also: Faith on Buffy)
