Honestly the thing that's making me most strongly believe that there will be a happy ending is Michael's whole thing about "OMG! What if we could TALK to the Klingons??" Because that is so Starfleet of her and I think it could mean there's still a hopeful, real-Starfleet, sort of ending to come. After a fucking shitload of shit, THESE POOR BASTARDS
I do totally believe that one way or another we'll get a hopeful Starfleet ending with some kind of peace for the Klingons and Starfleet. That's what this whole thing was set up to do. There's no reason otherwise for Voq and Michael to have such mirrored histories and experiences leading up to and into the pilot. Ash is going to be or lead to some kind of bridge between the two. ...I'm just fairly sure also that he's unlikely to survive it. Which hurts my feelings very much.
